That’s exactly what happened when Queens of Floors returned to Boca Prep in Boca Raton, Florida this time to transform the school’s outdoor walkways and exterior surfaces.
And yes, we said returned.
Because getting hired for one commercial flooring project is great.
Getting called back tells a different story.
Boca Prep trusted Queens of Floors with its flooring before. When another area of the property needed attention, we had the opportunity to come back and take the transformation outside.
This time, we were working with a surface that had plenty of character, but had also seen plenty of life.
First Impressions Start Before Anyone Walks Through the Door
When a school, nonprofit or business starts thinking about updating its property, the exterior floor probably isn't the first thing on the renovation wish list.
Fresh paint gets noticed.
New landscaping gets noticed.
Updated signage gets noticed.
But here's the thing:
Everybody still has to walk across the floor to get inside.
Exterior walkways, breezeways, patios and entrances are part of the experience of a property before anyone ever walks through the door.
At a school, those surfaces work especially hard.

The existing surface had a distinct tiled appearance, with visible lines and texture running throughout the outdoor walkways.
That character was actually part of what made the space interesting.
The problem?
Time had started speaking a little too loudly.
Visible wear, discoloration and inconsistencies throughout the surface were making the exterior feel more dated than the surrounding property.
And this is where a flooring transformation gets interesting.
Because old doesn't automatically mean everything needs to be ripped out.
Sometimes the better question is:
What can we do with what's already here?

The transformation didn't erase everything that made the original surface interesting.
You can still see visual texture and variation underneath the new finish.
Instead of fighting those details, the refreshed surface brings everything together into a more cohesive appearance.
The result feels cleaner.
Warmer.
More intentional.
And suddenly, the floor isn't simply the thing connecting one part of the school to another.
It's contributing to the way the entire exterior feels.
Outdoor Commercial Flooring Has a Different Job
An indoor commercial floor already has plenty to deal with.
An outdoor floor?
Now Mother Nature has joined the group chat.
And if you've spent any amount of time in South Florida, you already know she can be a little dramatic.
Heat.
Humidity.
Rain.

Foot traffic.
